Happily Ever After . . .

We have all heard the stories that start out ‘Once upon a time” and end with “They lived happily ever after.”  But that is not what our life experience proves to be.  We end up acting like the “Beast,” angry and out of control, or we suffer like Cinderella  scrubbing the floors and eating leftovers with no Prince in sight.  We might even be in a coma like Snow White alive but not living.  There doesn’t seem to be a rescuer.

We dream about being safe and loved for who we are and to feel safe enough to take the risks our ‘heart dreams’  require.  We want to live on the edge while knowing that there is no way that we can fail.  Why does the thought of being so free strike fear in our hearts?  We are so accustomed to living below our privilege, we have forgotten that we are loved.

Our love affair with Jesus has morphed, and for our part, it is like a bored married person who was once madly in love and has forgotten how it was.  We no longer want to be in His Presence.  We open His love letter, and it is dry and dusty . . .no longer alive.  We go to church on Sunday, take care of the nursery children, and help at the homeless shelter.  We have done the obligatory stuff and yet, we are unfulfilled.  What’s going on?

We have either forgotten how wonderful it is to rest in God’s love or we have looked but  never found that place.

So how do we wake up from the coma, lay aside the Beast, and move out of the  dominance and control of another?  How do we find ‘happily ever after?”  By discovering who God made us to be and what He provided for us when we accepted Jesus.

His provision is amazing!  We are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.  Jesus is our big brother and we get everything He gets.  As part of the royal family, the King and Creator of the Universe is our Father. We are adopted into His family and He has given us authority over the enemy.  And just like any good Father, He wants us to know Him face-to-face.  What amazing privilege!

Today’s Lesson:   When you wake up and recognize who you are, you find that you are invited to go into Father’s Presence and get to know His great love.  You haven’t missed it.  The way is still open.  Lay aside all fear.  Find a quiet place, put on some worship music and enter in.  Receive His love and return His love.  Breathe in the atmosphere.  In the end, I promise that you will “live happily ever after.”
